About Blackboys
Blackboys village is near the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, between Lewes and Heathfield. The settlement, and particularly the Blackboys Inn (originating from the 1300s) acted as a resting hub for workers tasked with taking charcoal to Lewes where it’s thought the material was later used by the Buxted foundry. The development of the iron trade developed economic matters for locals. Today the village is inhabited by a friendly, closely-knit community.
