About East Hoathly
East Hoathly village and its counterpart Halland form a parish in Wealden District, East Sussex – not far from Hailsham. It is thought the village gained its name from a landowning family known as ‘De Hodleigh’ in the 12th century. Diarist Thomas Turner lived there until his death in 1793 and the keyboard player in rock band Genesis, namely Tony Banks, was born in the village. East Hoathly has a bonfire society and there are three pubs to date, as well as a parish church and C of E primary school.
