About Lindfield
Lindfield, meaning ‘open land with lime trees’, is a village near Haywards Heath. It is officially in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is found in the upper parts of River Ouse, within reach of the High Weald. All Saints Church was built in 1098 and the village also boasts more than 40 medieval era timber-constructed houses. The village is mentioned as ‘Lindefeldia’ in a Saxon record dated 765AD. It was later part of the Wealden iron trade. Fast-forward to the present day and there is a good shopping scene. Villagers hold many community events in the Common and enjoy the large pond.
