About Wineham
Wineham is a quaint hamlet found in the civil parish of Shermanbury, Horsham District. Located just two-and-a-half miles form Henfield, the local pub, the Royal Oak, is known to offer a fine range of beers and hearty fare to please appetites.
The eastern section of the River Adur passes not far from Wineham, where it is found in an alluring natural state, after rising at Ditchling Common. Kingfishers are about and there are plentiful reedbeds. There are common river species near Wineham Lodge bridge but anglers have reported some good catches of pike just below the bridge too. The river wends it way into West Sussex to meet another water stream in the Twineham area. The Wineham part of the River Adur is altogether a bit undiscovered and worth a visit if you you’re a nature lover – or an angler.
