About Twineham
Twineham is in Mid Sussex, just five miles west of Burgess Hill. The village name derives from Old English, meaning, ‘the homestead between the streams’. A peaceful settlement, Twineham hosts the meeting of the River Adur with another stream, from whence the water flows to Henfield and eventually out to the sea at Shoreham-by-Sea.
The village church in Twineham, St Peter, was founded in the early Tudor period and constructed with an attractive Horsham stone roof and mellow red brick. Inside, the church building contains a tower with a gallery underneath, capable of a five-bell peal, a number of covered pews and a pulpit, which has hosted sermons from the Jacobean period.
