About Saltdean
Saltdean village, laid along chalk cliffs by the South Downs National Park. was largely formed in 1924 after farming land was sold off for development, fronted by businessman Charles W Neville. With a pleasant pebbled beach, the style of road systems is laid out in wide oval curves.
Residents live in a mix of lovely homes in Saltdean Vale, Greenbank Avenue, Bannings Vale, Westmeston Avenue, Chichester Drive West and Chichester Drive East – among other streets. And that’s not counting the pleasant varities of architecture greeting visitors driving along the nearby A259, right by the English Channel.
Saltdean is only a five-mile ride by bicycle along Brighton’s beachfront with a fascinating background of white cliffs, which are so famous all the way to Dover. There are plenty of leisurely activities in Saltdean too, splashing in the outdoor lido, the seaside sights and sounds of the undercliff walk, tucking into a carvery or enjoying a cup of tea in one of the cafes, while reflecting on the changing of the tide.
